DICK Huemer was an ardent New-Deal Democrat, and author of what Canemaker has termed "some of the best" of Disney's WWII propaganda films. So, what's with the Nazi regalia? Are these sketches merely a cruel gibe at RMH's Germanic heritage, or do they show the creative process at work? My guess is that it's the latter. Creativity involves the juxtaposition of familiar things in highly improbable contexts. Perhaps it helped the studio artists to imagine the Nazis' "Education for Death" by placing one of their own in the context of Hitler's Germany. I suspect the sketches relate to the genesis of that film. -- RPH
